Osugi combines woodblock printing with embossing, overlaying many variants of colour to create a textural feel. His works are full of Japanese historical imagery depicting men and women from the Tales of Genji, a classic work of Japanese literature written in the 11th Century by a noblewoman, as in this piece. Osugi’s works are in the permanent collection of the Cincinnati Art Museum USA in addition to numerous private collections.
